Peter Pan Jr.

Tahlequah Community Playhouse, Inc. presented “Peter Pan, Jr”, a Penguin Project production, on Friday and Saturday, June 1 and 2, 7 p.m. at the Tahlequah High School Performing Arts Center, Pendleton  Street, Tahlequah, OK. The Penguin Project pairs special needs artists and mentors to perform a delightfully magical musical. The Penguin Project was conceived by Dr. Andrew Morgan to give children with special needs an opportunity to participate in the performing arts. Dr. Morgan is a developmental pediatrician and the former Head of the Division of Child Development at the University of Illinois in Peoria. The Penguin Project helps children develop creative skills related to the theater arts, provides an opportunity to participate in the community theater experience, facilitates interaction with age-level peers through joint participation in a community theater experience, and so much more. And it is a fun experience for all. This year the director, Bryn Smith, has chosen “Peter Pan, Jr.” The story is acted out like the original but in a shorter version. We all know that penguins cannot fly and in our performance there will be no flying, but nevertheless our penguins will be soaring to great heights. Anyone who attended a performance of Annie, Jr. last year, directed by Peggy Kaney, knows what a great show it was.

To make all this happen TCP is asking you to Adopt-A-Penguin.  A $25 Adopt-A-Penguin fee supports our Penguin costumes, show shirts, and Penguin Project gear. To adopt a penguin, click here.  You will receive a certificate of adoption for each penguin you adopt along with his or her bio and picture. Dual adoption of penguin/mentor are also available.
