Steel Magnolias

Truvy (Paula Reif) , has one creed she lives by, “There is no such thing as natural beauty.” Truvy is the beauty salon owner of THE beauty salon in Chinquapin, Louisiana. Shelby is known to say that, “Anyone who’s anybody get their hair done at Truvy’s.” It is the setting for “Steel Magnolias”, Robert Harling’s play about strong, southern women. The play opens at the Armory in Tahlequah on April 14.

Tahlequah Community Playhouse, Inc. will present “Steel Magnolias” by Robert Harling, directed by Sandra Becker and Patsy Clifford on April 14-16, and April 21-23, 2017 at the  Armory Municipal Center, 100 Water Ave., Tahlequah, Ok. The play is based on the true story of Harling’s sister, Susan Harling Robinson, who is the focus of the play. The women portrayed in the play are real characters.The play premiered at the WPA Theatre in New York City in 1987. The movie version came out about 5 years later.  All shows are dinner theater shows. Tickets are $25 for dinner and the play, $15 for show only, and $10 for show only for students. Reservations are required for the dinner theater and must be made by 5 p.m. the Wednesday before the weekend show. Doors open and dinner is served at 6:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 1:00  p.m. on Sunday. The play begins one hour later.  Dinner is catered by “Everything Nice by Colene”.
